I’ve finally gotten confirmation that The Sixth Strand, A Pattern of Shadow & Light Book Five will release on Audible on December 30th, 2019. Nick completed recording of the book in early September, and we’re now in post-production.
Preorder here: https://www.audible.com/pd/1774240491
And here’s a trailer of Nick reading chapter 1 for anyone interested.
So there you have it, folks!
What a great day it is. I have been waiting so long. I love the books so much
I’m so happy to finally have a date to give you. 🙂
Wow wow wow words cannot adequately describe my joy! So is that the us audible release or preorder? Or is it international cause I cant find it here in sweden on audible.
Cant wait 4 h left on kingdom blades! Help…
LOL. The 31st is the actual date of release. Book five should be available for preorder, but it’s not up there yet. I’m guessing early November for the preorder. I’ll update my original post as soon as the preorder is running. Hang in there!
Thank you for the reply, will be waiting eagerly to say the least! Do you know if the release date also applies to swedish audible members? Sometimes these things are region restricted 🙁
I’ll try to find out for you!
I found out from my publishers that the release date should apply world-wide.
Two days to Thanksgiving and still no preorder on audible.
Yep, I noticed that too, Willard. As soon as I know something I’ll post to this page. It’s a waiting game on Audible at this point. It just has to appear in their catalog and there’s nothing we can do to rush that process.
Thank you so much for finding out about the audible release being international. Makes me very happy. Now I dare finish book 4 knowing the next chapter is on the horizon!
Thanks again, sincerely a huge fan!
Time to re-listen from the start!! ….and be ready for your next book! Can’t wait!
Sounds like a smart plan. I look forward to hearing what you think of book five.
I’ve been checking audible every day waiting for the pre-order to pop up. I was hoping it would pop up in early November. since I haven’t seen it yet I’m worried that it won’t be coming out on December 31st. I’ve already adjusted my listening so I would be ready for it on December 31st. Do we know when it will show up on audible for pre-order?
Tristan, I’m as concerned as you are. Per my publisher, the files have been submitted, but we have no control over how long it takes Audible to list the book in their catalog. It is definitely on sale as of the 30th of December, per my publisher – preorder or no preorder.
Truly this is the most fantastic epic fantasy I have encountered in 40 years of only reading this genre. I am so grateful for the depths and complexities of the characters and plot as assists my navigating our matrix during these polarized intense times.
Thank you from the vastness of my innate Infiniteness for sharing your art and inspiration with us all!
Read the book already but Nick adds another dimension and I will now listen to them all a 3rd time!
You Rock Melissa
WIth eternal gratitude for such friends on the journey like Trell, Tanis, Pelas and Phaedor.
Blair
Thank you so much for your kind words about my series, Blair. I’m honored to know it has claimed such a high position in your esteem. I hope you’ll share any new thoughts you have on book five after listening again through Nick’s narration. Best wishes and happy holidays!
Just having finished book 5 of what I consider to be the top 3 series I’ve ever read, I’m chomping for the next.
I’m working away on book six as we speak (write), Jeff. Thank you so much. I’m so honored for my series to be considered in your top 3!
Is there going to be a book 6.
I hope so
Of course, Jeremy. Latest update on book six is here.
Yay!
That will start my New Year out right!
Yay!
I listened to all 4 books in the past 3 weeks. Love the story. Love the multiverse, love the characters.
Haven’t actually read a book in years, but I may have to. Nor sure I can wait 6 weeks, and my birthday is Sunday. I guess I’ll have to get the print version and then listen afterward.
LOL, Joe. I understand. If you decide to take the plunge, I hope to make the drudgery of actual reading well worth the effort. 😉
I’ve been holding on to a credit and looking every week for it to pop up in preorder. So excited!!!
This is great news! I’m telling all my friends!
I should have read this first..instead of reading the headline and jumping onto Audible and frantically, okay maybe not FRANTICALLY, searching for it
Good thing I buy 3 credits a month, I’ll definitely have at least 1 when I can FINALLY pre-order it.
Fantastic! Time to get the first four books timed so that I can listen to them (again), this time syncing the finish of Kingdom Blades to coincide with the release of The Sixth Strand. Woo-hoo!
Well that’s my New Years Eve plans changed with immediate effect. I cant wait to hear the next chapters of the characters story develop and I’m particularly looking forward to the development of Tanis and Pelass’ relationship.
As a final note I also think Nick brings so much to each or the characters, it was searching for titles that he performed that led me to the series in the first place! I’m glad I did …
Thanks for the update and for creating a series that is so completely enthralling and addictive …
I agree with you completely about Nick, Jason. I feel so blessed to have him as the voice of my series. So glad you’re enjoying the story. I look forward to your feedback on book five.
Oh happy day!! I can’t wait for the year to end now!! 🙂
You and me both, Teresa. 🙂
I can’t wait!! I bought the book when it was released but can’t bring myself to read it. Nick’s performance just brings the characters and story to life in such a special way that I have to wait for the Audible version. Although I do sit and stare at the book longingly
Hahaha! Only two months to go, Shelley. 🙂
Just wondering if there is an update on the Audible release?
December 31st is the release date, Nick. 🙂
Jeffery I think you’ve gotten caught up a bit too much in your surprise and have failed to look past the act at the context and the reactions of the characters involved. Ean’s brother makes a great point, her decision was to be tortured and killed or teach someone how to subvert a compulsion and escape. Your “alpha male” argument in this case is beyond ridiculous and you’ve attached your own egotistical view point here in regard to dissolution to the marriage. What your describing even doesn’t fit the mold of what an “alpha male” would be to begin with. In your world apparently alpha male means sniveling and insecure and to stupid to look at the facts of what happened and why. If my wife had to sleep with someone to save her life and also by doing so increases the likelihood of saving mankind from immortal creatures bent on destroying the universe then so be it. Would it be difficult, yes, would I forgive her and move on with life, yes. Also, in what world are you living in where you read into her enjoying this and showing a complete lack of remorse or guilt? Did you stop reading and not move forward as soon as it happened? I think you’re attaching something of personal significance in your own life here, because nothing you said makes sense or is factual.
It will definitely be a happy new year for me!
Oh so glad to see this! I’ve thought about purchasing the print copy but I feel like that would mess up my experience. I adore what Nick brings to your characters and I’m so glad you kept the series consistent. I’ve been so disappointed from other series when the narrator changes. I actually found your amazing books because I searched for what Nick narrates. Thank goodness for that because this is my all time favorite series! I’ve listened to all of them 4 times already and will go through another listen to step right into the continuation on NYE!
Thank you for sharing your amazing mind and talent with us!
I’m thrilled you’re enjoying my series on Audible, Carol (and multiple times, no less). Thank you so much for your kind words. I agree – Nick is quite the talent and I’m blessed to have him to bring my characters to life.
This news is literally the highlight of my day! Super excited for the next book 😀
I’m excited to get your feedback and thoughts on it, Monique. 😀
Fantastic! I have been checking Audible every month, what a great Christmas present. Thanks, Melissa.
I’m looking forward to hearing what you think of book five, David. Please keep in touch. 🙂
Perfect timing, this will be a godsend for Christmas holidays
Yay! I’m excited for your feedback, Niall. Happy Christmas!
I’m glad to know we have a definitive date of December 30 now. I don’t know about anyone else, but the not knowing was almost more worrisome than not being able to preorder. Thanks for posting the trailer of chapter 1, Melissa! It’s great to hear Nick again! 🙂
I haven’t seen any options to pre-order the Audible book. Is it still coming out end of December?
My publisher assures me that it is going to release on Dec 30th.
Let’s bump it to the 29th, my birthday.
Just came out on preorder and i clicked that button so fast….
I am currently half way through listening to the series for the 2nd time! I LOVE LOVE LOVE these books! As I listen, I can so visualize these books as a television series, or movies! I can so visualize Darian vran Lea, with his long wild black hair, and Tanis’s wide, innocent eyes, just all of it!! I really think we’ve gotta get these on TV!!!!!!! I can hardly wait till the Sixth Strand comes out on Audible. I bought the book on Kindle, but I just so love to hear Nick Podehl performing that I’m forcing myself to wait!!!!
You have amazing willpower, Laurie. I’m so happy you’ve loving my series. I look forward to getting your feedback on book five!
Well I know it’s only a couple more days, but I couldn’t wait, and am reading it now; I’ll be done before the Audible comes out! Still can’t wait to hear it!
Carian, not Darian; dang auto correct!!!!!!!
Just came out on preorder and i clicked that button so fast…
Haha, thank you! 🙂
The pre-order is available on audible now!
I just finished listening to The Sixth Strand… So many moments that I’ve been longing for in this book! Thank you Melissa for once again sharing the beauty of your imagination. I think this was, by far, my favorite in the series so far. 🙂
I’m so happy to know you enjoyed it, Teresa. I think every new book becomes my new favorite. Then I go back and reread parts from the earlier ones, and I love them too. 😉
Just got my pre-order!!! Yay!!!
There is a lady on Jeopardy who’s name is Dagmar . . . Thought it was unusual
Been frantically pressing refresh on my library. Anyone have any idea what time this will be available today?
It’s available now, Christopher. 🙂
Just got it! Actually, I am a little late to the party. So many books and so little time. So, I got all 5 of them today. OCD is mostly controlled, but, as is with everything, it has it’s moments. :0) I have a lot to catch up on. Have a great day! Let the adventure begin :0)
Thank you so much, Thomas. I look forward to getting your feedback on my series. Please keep in touch.
Melissa, I’m so happy you completed book 6! I haven’t begun listening to it yet I am thrilled to have this to look forward to starting off the new year. I love thos series and you are such a fantastic storyteller. I wish you all the success in 2020 as you deserve.
Its finally here! I could squeal!!
Thank you so much, Kevin. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on The Sixth Strand. 🙂
I tend to listen to audio books vs music during my commute and while I’m at work. I find them more relaxing. I was recommended this series by a coworker. I have to admit, I was skeptical about listening to book one, but I had an extra audible.com credit and I wasn’t sure what to use it on. I decided I’d give book one a try and made the purchase. I figured I listen on my commute to the office and up till lunch. At that point if I didn’t like it, I wouldn’t have waisted much time on it. It wouldn’t be the first book I‘d have abandoned because it didn’t capture my attention. I’m very happy to say, I was COMPLETELY wrong. I was hooked after only a couple of hours. I finished book one in roughly two weeks and promptly purchased three extra credits to purchase the remaining book. It’s a great story line and very well written. I’ve just purchased book five and I’m very excited to get started on it. Keep up the great work. I’m excited to see what your next series brings. My only question is will there be a book six or is this the final book in this series. (I understand if you can’t tell me).
I’m so glad book one was able to meet your standards for entertainment, Jon, and I’m thrilled that you’re still enjoying my series. There will definitely be a book six. 🙂
This book made me laugh so much. Fynn complaining about bubbly wine and bloody Tuesdays. Raphael’s cries of dismay when Tanis stilts his floors. I was happy when the she dragon stabbed Dore Madden; finally justice for what he did to Sebastian and his brothers. When Ean’s story meet the one serving Shail, I was a bit confused at first. The switch was unexpected. I recalled in your authors note this might happen, so I continued to read. Shortly I made sense of it. The blend between the two with an added mix of Tanis was well planned out. Paleas’s flight from his brother Shail reminded me of the game Temple Run.
I had a feeling that Sebastian would be reunited with his father via fighting the eidola. This came around the time I was at the moment when the king was informed of the incoming eidola army. Another reunion well written.
I laughed a lot during this book, from Fynn complaining about bubbly wine to bloody Tuesdays and Raphael’s cries of dismay when Tanis tilted his floors. lol When Ean’s story merged with Jaro’s I was a bit confused at first. I recalled your author’s note mentioned this might happen, so I continued reading. Shortly, I gained understanding. The switch between the 3 characters gave me a chance to see things from 3 different perspectives. Thank you for the interesting opportunity. 🙂 Paleas’s flight from Shail brought to mind the game Temple Run.
